Let’s help keep the community safe

And, we’re back in Stage 3 lockdown in Victoria. The numbers are rising, and the situation isn’t looking good. As a community we can do our part to curb this Coronavirus spread and get back to what was normality.

Dr Kaushik Banerjea, Executive Director Medical Services has a few simple suggestions on how we as a community can do our bit.

His suggestions are :

  • It is your personal responsibility to keep yourself and others safe—not the government’s.
  • Maintain meticulous hand hygiene and spatial distancing. This means no hugging and kissing.
  • Maintain appropriate coughing and sneezing etiquette. Cough into your arm and sneeze into a tissue, and then dispose it—the tissue I mean, not your arm.
  • Be sensible and stay away from crowds.
  • Adhere to the government’s instructions and stay indoors. Go out only for essentials.

You can also do what Dr Banerjea has started in his hospital as a greeting. Instead of elbow bumps he’s introduced Namaste as a form of greeting among his colleagues and patients. This may well become the future form of greeting worldwide.

Stay well, stay safe everyone, and be kind.
